Highly adapted to boarding hulls, the Mortegaunt is equipped with twin crushing claws and a front-heavy carapace that is able to punch through solid Plasteel. This gaunt subspecies is employed in the boarding actions of Hive Fleet Myopsida, and was first encountered in the Psylona Secundus system. These gaunts serve as the "bruisers", clearing ship hulls for the other members of its specialized team to seep through and sow chaos among the ship's denizens.
