Progress on the classification of Karthagan Gauntii subspecies has slowed due to reprioritization on Inquisitorial order. Despite orders from Inquisior Ravenna, it is my prerogative and duty to continue this work. The next subject of study is specimen MYOP-GG/01. In line with previously established data, this subspecies features facial carapace growths that fully cover the orbital cavity. Deeper necropsy analysis of specimens MYOP-GG/01, MYOP-GG/03, MYOP-GG/05, MYOP-GG/08 has revealed that these Gauntii subspecies lack functional ocular organs, proving the hypothesis that these bioforms do not rely on eyesight to hunt their prey. It is plausible that these bioforms have been engineered specifically for boarding Imperial vessels, whose corridors are frequently dim-lit and inadequately serviced. However, it is as of yet unclear how these bioforms utilize their remaining senses so efficiently.

Specimen MYOP-GG/01 is notable due to the peculiar shape of its facial and dorsal carapace, as well as the outgrowth of the acromial carapace. While previous specimens sported more streamlined facial carapace shapes, the facial carapace on this specimen is exceptionally sharp. In addition to a razor-sharp carapace, the specimen's fore-claws have morphed into basic rending claws. Rending claws are a common morph within the greater Tyranid swarm, they are not one to be underestimated. This combination of carapace and rending claws make this biomorph especially formidable in close-combat, perfectly blending offensive and defensive strategy. Data logs obtained from the wreckage of [DATA REDACTED] recount an encounter with Gauntii seemingly "covered in blades sharp enough to slice clean through standard flak armour". The same recording dubs this species the "Terrorgaunt", henceforth known as Gauntii gladius ssp. terribilis. Its role in combat filling the niche of an interceptor, capable of stopping its enemy's advance with a flurry of razor sharp attacks.

Specialized teams of Gauntii subspecies were first encountered in 3.652.009M42 in the Psylona Secundus system, and have since been sighted across the Karthago Reach. Their unique adaptations and mode of attack have only intensified rumours among imperial forces in the sector, and as such these subspecies have been assigned the moniker "The Masked Breachers of Psylona Secundus."
